Eyeshadow application mistakes to avoid
Applying eyeshadow in the right way does not seem like a very difficult job until we make a mistake, which is only pointed out later by a friend. There are many colors and types of eyeshadows available in the market today. Let us understand a few mistakes that are universally common, and how we can avoid them the next time we’re applying eyeshadow.
Eyeshadow matching the eye color
The most common mistake of all is to match the color of the eyeshadow with the color of the eye. However, the correct way is applying eyeshadow of a color which is in absolute contrast to the eye color. So, since red and green are complementary colors, if you have green eyes, it can be safe to apply burgundy eyeshadow. If you do wish to try a color similar to your eyes, go with one that does not overshadow the color of the iris.
Irregular blending
Blending different colors is always a good idea, on the bone brow or a couple of colors on the lid. However, when the colors are not blended well, they tend to leave a harsh effect, making the look very incomplete. Each shade should be blended well with the one next to it with the help of a brush.
Using bundled applicators
Some eyeshadow brands come with applicators, which should only be used when you want to apply when you’re on the go. For a more finished look, you should always apply eyeshadow with the help of a brush. An applicator will leave a blot of eyeshadow at one place, while a brush will distribute the color evenly.
Applying too much eyeshadow under the eye
If you go too much further down under the eye, it is not going to look very pleasing. Too much product does not add glam to the look, instead makes it overdone.
Applying eyeshadow after concealer
It is a thumb rule to apply concealer after you apply the eyeshadow. If you do it the other way round, the shadow will scatter all around the eye and you will have wasted all the hard work you have done on the makeup so far. When you’re dabbing concealer under the eyes, make sure to place it slightly lower than the lower lash.
Not using age-appropriate eyeshadow
Shimmery eyeshadow should be ideally used by women in the 20s. While as you grow older find an eyeshadow that matches your eyelids. If you have aging eyelids, where wrinkles are getting more and more prominent, matte products can be used which will cover the wrinkles and not draw too much attention toward the eyes.
Not applying liner and mascara
Do not be under the impression that eyeshadow will be enough. Create a shape with eyeliner and apply mascara to get the perfect look.
Additionally, you must use eye shadows of good quality. Many brands offer a wide range of eye shadows of different types. You can choose the eye shadow brand, type, and color that best suits your needs. It is also important to remove the eye shadow and any other makeup while going to bed. This allows your skin to breath and the makeup products do not clog the facial pores.
