Popular wearable tech products

There’s no doubt that the word “wearable” has become a buzzword of late. Short for “wearable technology”, it has become very popular, even among the older generations. It is simply a technological device that can be worn on your body, instead of having to carry it around. Here’s a list of some of the most popular wearable tech products:

  • Wristbands to track fitness : These are designed by Fitbit, Runtastic, Misfit, Nike, Microsoft, Jawbone, and many others.
  • Smartwatches : These are designed by Apple Watch, Android Wear, Pebble watch, and more.
  • Smart glasses : Google’s Google Glass, Sony’s SmartEyeGlass, and such.

Most popular wearable tech products today
As for their popularity, everywhere you look, you see people with fitness tracking bands around their wrists and others with smartwatches, helping them keep track of their appointments. These two wearable tech products are by far the most popular, but there are many other wearable technology products that are still being introduced.

For instance, there is a new product called the “AmpStrip”, which is designed to monitor your heart rate. This smart band-aid sticks to your chest and sends your heart rate to your smartphone, allowing you to keep track of instances where your it shoots up or goes down. There are other such devices, like a jacket with built-in LEDs. Another such device is a ring that helps keep track of vital functions in your body. Although they are very effective, these products are not quite as popular yet, which might be because of the price.

Wearable tech you might want to invest in
Even though some of these products are yet to become available to everyone, there are some wearable tech products that are already available and are widely used:

Fitness/activity-tracking wristbands
This is the quintessential wearable technology product in the market today, and there are many brands that have come up with different types. The most popular is the line of Fitbit’s fitness tracking bands.
You wear the band around your wrist for the entirety of the day, and it tracks your activities right from counting the number of steps you take to the flights of stairs you climb and the number of calories you burn. It even keeps track of your sleeping cycles, has an in-built alarm system to wake you up (by vibrating on your wrist), and the high-end fitness tracking bands even monitor your heart rate. Some of them even display the time, incoming phone calls, and other information. They sync all the information to the cloud, allowing you to view it on a web browser as well.

This wearable tech product is being used by every other person and is essentially a small, portable product that consists of a small computer with low-power sensors.

Smartwatches
Right after fitness-tracking bands come smartwatches in terms of popularity. They are extremely popular in terms of “technology that can be worn” as they are super convenient and come with a number of advantages. However, they do not have a target audience (like activity-tracking bands), which is something that most companies are working on.
